Don’t Deflate a Good Night’s Rest

We’ve all been there. You settle in for a good night’s rest on an air mattress only to awake on the floor and on top of a deflated air mattress. Whether you’re camping in the great outdoors or a guest at someone’s house, a comfortable place to sleep is a must.

Lucky for you, Bestway offers one of the best universal inflatable patch kits available. Patching an air mattress’ hole is easy, and you’ll have your air mattress up and running in no time after you follow these simple steps.

Step 1: Prepping Your Work Area

Begin by removing the air mattress’ sheets, pillows, and blankets to give yourself a clear view of your entire mattress. Working in a cramped area is difficult, so you’ll want to give yourself plenty of room to work.

Step 2: Using The Dish Soap Method

A tried-and-true method of leak detection is the dish soap method. Begin by mixing a small amount of dish soap, a spoonful should suffice, into a spray bottle filled with warm water. If you don’t have a spray bottle, a washcloth or sponge will work fine. Put the spray bottle or washcloth to the side for now. Both will come handy when following step 3.

Next, you’ll want to inflate the mattress with as much air as possible without risking a burst air mattress. If your air mattress is leaking, an inflated mattress will aid you in detecting the source of the leak.

Step 3: Detecting the Leak

After you’ve inflated the mattress, begin by spraying or wiping along the valves and seams of your air mattress. Holes can happen anywhere on your air mattress, but these are the two most common locations.

If there is a leak, the escaping air from your mattress will cause soap bubbles to form. Wherever the soap bubbles are forming, carefully circle the area with a dark marker taking care not to damage the air mattress’ fabric.

Step 4: Patching the Leak

It’s a good idea to give your air mattress some time to dry off. For best results, take your air mattress outside and allow it to sun dry for about 30–60 minutes. If outside isn’t an option, simply pat your air mattress with a towel until it’s dry.

Finally, take your Best way universal patching kit and apply it to the leak. Take care to smooth out any air bubbles and wrinkles. Give about 30 minutes for the patch’s adhesive to kick in, and you’ll be good to go.

Air mattresses area convenient way to take a good night’s sleep with you on the road, but this convenience comes with the added risk of an air leak. However, following the above steps on how to fix an air mattress will ensure that a leaky air mattress never catches you by surprise.
